05. Why Valve or Flange dialog drop down listings do not contain specific information (ex. Pressure Rating, End Connection, Manufacturer, Standard, Sub Category, Type, etc..) in an AutoPIPE model?

Problem:

What to do when a drop down listing do not have a specific selection that is normally there?

Solution:

If specific information was not listed on a drop down listing that would otherwise normally be available means that there may be no library data for that setting per that pipe size. See AutoPIPE help to confirm.

Example:

Pipe size = 22 inch dia.

Type of valve available was only Ball valve

Why?

Answer:

From the Valve dialog select "Help" button,

> Valve Type hyperlink,

> View Standard Valves in Library hyperlink

> ANSI/ASME Library

> Standard Ball Valve (Side entry)

Note, 22 inch valve library information was available for a ball valve.

However, NO 22 inch valve library information was available for a Gate valve. Thus Gate valve was not an available selection on the valve drop down listing image above.

Workaround:

Use one of the following options:

Option #1:

Select NS (Non-Standard) from the drop down listing, and enter the relevant dialog values as needed

Option #2:

Manually update the Component Library to include new library values based on each pipe size of interest.
