How to model a Butterfly valve?
At this time there is no valve library exclusively for butterfly valves. Therefore, mode the valve using Valve type = NS (Non-Standard) and then enter the correct values for the rest of the dialog screen as needed.
When it comes time to select a Joint End type, select the type the closest type of connection. If connected by a welded: select Butt Weld, If connected to weld neck flanges: select Weld Neck flange. This Joint End type field does nothing more than determines what valve graphic is to be shown and selects a predetermined SIF value displayed in the grayed out field below. Otherwise, select NS (Non-Standard) and manually enter a SIF value as needed. However, a Joint End Type = NS will use a Butt weld valve graphic. This may not look correct but again it is just a graphic, the SIF value is the most import information provided here and must be correct.
