    06. How to solve a friction force problem found in a Log file for AutoPIPE?

    Problem:

When analyzing a model the following occurs:

    ---------------------------
    Confirm
    ---------------------------
The load case did not converge. Do you wish to continue iterating?
    ---------------------------
    Yes No Cancel
    --------------------------

Pressing No creates a Log file that can be reviewed. Upon reviewing the log file it was determine that the problem was attributed to a friction force issue, How to fix it?

    Solution:

    Example procedure below:

Look at the LOG file, see:

     Load case                    =  Thermal 2
     Iteration number             =   99
Maximum normal force error   =    0.0000E+00 Kgf
Maximum gap closure error    =    4.2603E+00 mm        for support  V-STOP  at point A20
Maximum friction force error =    1.5379E+02 Kgf       for support  V-STOP  at point B03

First, the log file indicates that the offending node point is B03 in this example, start by iterative lowering the friction. It was found that after lowering the friction to 0.00 still did not resolve this issue.

Next, reviewed support at node point A20. In this particular model there was another node point (A17) very close to A20. Deleting one of these supports (A17 or A20) made this model analysis converge.
