The following screen appears when entering in a Inside diameter value in AutoPIPE's Flange Analysis software:
---------------------------Flange*---------------------------The value must be equal to the outside diameter of the pipe.---------------------------OK ---------------------------
Why and how to avoid it?
As the dialog indicates the user must enter a value that is equal to the outside diameter of the pipe.
On Flange Tab, see Outside Diameter and Inside Diameter values for the respective flange.
In general, for Slip-On or Socket weld type flanges the Pipe's Outside Diameter must be the same as the Flange's Inside Diameter. In this case, note that the Pipe's Outside Diameter (50.00 in) was significantly larger that the Flange's Inside Diameter (21.5542 in). Thus the warning was displayed.
Enter an Flange Inside diameter that is equal to the Pipe's Outside diameter.
Starting with AutoPIPE CONNECT V11.01.xx.xx and higher, the application will automatically adjust the value when the warning message dialog is closed.
1. However, there is a known issue, column units must be inches. If using mm units, the warning message may keep appearing. The following has been logged and will be fixed in a future version of the application:
TFS-D273837: Nominal Standard Pipe OD greater than 900mm is not accepted during dimension library selection
Avoidance, Set the model input unit file to AutoPIPE, then set the outer diameter of the pipe in question to the appropriate standard OD. Finally, set the input units to the desired file. DO NOT touch the OD dialog again.
2. Confirm type of flange being modeled, if flange is NOT a "Reverse flange" (see Section VIII, mandatory appendix 2, figure 2-13), confirm "Reverse" setting on the flange tab of Flange Analysis dialog is UNCHECKED.
