Problem:

The following warning message appears when running a model consistency check report:

W2164-58: Soil ID: S0004 ,Bedding const. K cannot be zero. Reset to 0.1.

How to avoid it?

Solution:

A nonlinear analysis will usually converge quite rapidly. However, some analyses may fail to converge, even if extra iterations are allowed. Failure to converge usually indicates that the system is unusually sensitive, suggesting that some settings ought to be modified.

Typically non converging issues are associated with support locations, support stiffness values, soil stiffness values, etc..Therefore it is highly recommended that the user not analyze a model with certain Soil properties set to 0.00 (ex. K2).

Workaround:

As mentioned in the warning message, change any k2 soil property from 0.00 into a fairly small number, ex 0.1.
