Why are the support forces = 0.00?
Question: Name reasons why support forces maybe zero?
Answer: Correct...There are only few reasons why a support's force would = 0.00:
1. When performing a non-linear analysis, the support gaps have not closed under any load case or operating conditions.
2. Support Stiffness is set to zero.
3. Operating temperature is equal to ambient one
4. Thermal expansion data for user-defined material is not entered.
5. Thermal expansion occurs freely on simple structure like a cantilever beam.
If one looks at the support report above, see that the Stiff value for all supports = Free (meaning 0.00).
This is also shown on the supports input grids
Enter in a valid support stiffness higher than 0.00 as needed.
