    Problem:

How to know which AutoPIPE edition (Standard, Advance, or Nuclear) to select on this dialog?

AutoPIPE 12.03 and higher license dialog:

Note: The Blue wording on the dialog above is meant only for those wishing to evaluate the program. The wording does not apply to general licensing. After receiving the Evaluation license entitlements, only select AutoPIPE Advance edition to evaluate the available features. The other options, Standard and Nuclear, will not work for the evaluation period.

AutoPIPE 12.01 to 12.02 license dialog:

    Solution:

This is a good question, when your company signs a Bentley software contract, it will contain a list of applications and corresponding number of licenses available for that application. Bentley supports what is called Trust Licensing, a feature that will not restrict users from user from obtaining license for any application / edition. The user's company will receive an invoice at the end of the month/ quarter/ contract renewal for only the amount time the license was used over that mentioned on the original contract. Many user's like this feature, as the invoice amount is for the time used instead of adding another full seat to their contract. Trust licensing saves money.

With Bentley's SES, license are controlled by your company's designated representatives called Bentley On-Site Administrators. These individual have the power to provide other company employees with entitlements to use certain Bentley Licenses. They can also set up license alerts, a popup dialog warning end users of possible over using the contracted amount of license. Again, if your work demands a feature that is only available in a certain edition of AutoPIPE, only your company can decide on if it is best to add another full seat of the program to the exiting contract, or to use the application where you will only be charged for the actual time of usage.

Regardless, end users should perform the following:

    1. After signing into Bentley Connection Client, Open BLT (Bentley Licensing Tool) and review entitlements based on sign-in credentials.

    2. Best Choice, contact your Bentley On-Site Admin and ask them to tell you what are your entitlements.
