How are the nominal design stress under normal operating conditions at test temperature and design (calculation) temperatures calculated in AutoPIPE Vessel for a material (ex. P355NL2)?
For P355NL2:
fa = nominal design stress under normal operating conditions at test temperature.
fTd = nominal design stress under normal operating conditions at calculation temperature.
fa is equal to min(Rp0,2t/1.5,Rm/2.4) with Rp0.2t = 355 MPa and Rm = 490 MPa and consequently fa = 204.17 MPa
fTd is equal to min(Rp0,2t/1.5,Rm/2.4) with Rp0.2t = 325 MPa and Rm = 490 MPa and consequently fa = 204.17 MPa
In fa, the "test temperature" means ambient but the way to define the stress is the same as for fTd.
Where:
Rm = Minimum guaranteed tensile strength at room temperature.
Rp0,2/t = Minimum guaranteed yield strength 0.2 % at design temperature.
