                            How to Activate AutoPIPE®

                            SES Licensing (Online)

SES Licensing is the online internet licensing mode with real-time license controls. For more information, refer to SES Licensing and Installation Guide. SES Licensing provides enhanced security and optimized value for your Bentley Subscriptions. It is integrated with Bentley's Identity Management System (IMS) and the Bentley CONNECT technology platform to allow near real-time reporting of usage, improved alert messaging to users and increased administrative capabilities to license administrators in your organization. It will not only give you more options to monitor and manage usage but also provide new, advanced licensing features that will enhance digital workflows.

                            Activation

With SES Licensing, all users must be registered with Bentley's Identity Management System (IMS) and sign in to the CONNECTION Client to access Bentley applications. Product activation will now occur through user sign-in to the CONNECTION Client with a valid IMS ID associated with their account. User sign-in will replace traditional activation keys, offering enhanced security as administrators will be able to control which users have access to Bentley software. License entitlements are granted and maintained through SES Licensing's Entitlement Management Service. By signing into the CONNECTION Client users can also find their organization's projects, download software updates, receive relevant notifications, and track their usage.

                            Alerts

SES Licensing features the new license alerts notifications that can be set by an organization's license administrators to let the users know when they reach a set usage threshold. These notifications will alert the users that if they continue to use the product, a term license may be issued. The user in such a situation has the choice to quit the application before a license is used or acknowledge that a term license may be generated and proceed with starting the application, based on what settings the administrator chooses.

                              SELECT Licensing (Offline)

SELECT Licensing is the legacy mode, provided for using software in restricted or permanently offline environments where SES Licensing is not currently supported. AutoPIPE Standard, AutoPIPE Advanced, AutoPIPE Nuclear, and add-ons are are all supported on the SELECT Server Licensing. If you are upgrading from an earlier version of the product, it is highly recommended that you do not install this product over the previous version. Older versions of AutoPIPE 6.3, 8.50, 8.51 and 8.60 will run under SELECT Server XM Licensing using the SELECT Server XM Gateway Service and the older SELECT licenses. For more information on the SELECT Server XM Gateway Service see the AutoPIPE Quick Start Guide.

The AutoPIPE products can be authorized as Standalone Licenses (formerly called Fixed Licenses), fixed to one user workstation or as Concurrent Licenses (formerly known as Floating Licenses) running from a local or Bentley hosted SELECT Server.

Users who have existing Floating Licenses and wish to convert the licenses to run on SELECT Server can contact Bentley Sales Support Center from the website at http://www.bentley.com/en-US/Services/Bentley+Sales+Support.htm. The following information is required when requesting SELECT Server licensing: Server Name, email address of the recipient of the SELECT Server license and the Serial Numbers to be added to the server.

Product activation is achieved by connecting to a SELECT Server, receiving a verification that your SELECT Server Name and Activation Key are correct, and successfully posting Usage logs. Product activation is not the same as checking out a license. This document describes how to configure AutoPIPE for activation. After initial configuration, AutoPIPE automatically and transparently tries to activate each time it runs, and runs unconstrained for a period of 30 days after its last successful activation. However, if activation is unsuccessful for a period of 30 days, AutoPIPE will not start until it is activated again.

Activating a product using the Product Activation Wizard

The Product Activation Wizard is designed to step users through the product activation process. After a product is installed, you must obtain a license and then activate that license. Obtaining the license alone is not enough to complete the process. This wizard eliminates the confusion and makes it clear that obtaining a license and activating a product are two essential steps.

The Product Activation Wizard opens automatically (unless the "Activate product using Bentley License Tool" check box is turned off) at the end of the product installation process. See the AutoPIPE Quick Start Guide for more information on installing AutoPIPE.

The first screen of the Product Activation Wizard offers four product activation options:

                              • SELECT subscribers with a deployed (local) SELECT Server
                              • SELECT subscribers activating against a hosted (Bentley) SELECT Server
                              • Non-SELECT users
                              • Evaluation Only - No license information

The wizard steps you through the activation process based on the options selected.

SELECT subscribers with a deployed (local) SELECT Server

If you are activating against a local SELECT Server, you must provide the proper Server Name and Activation Key. The Server Name and Activation Key, along with any proxy configuration information, can be obtained from your Site Administrator.

                              Error History

The following outline identifies all major errors fixed in Release of AutoPIPE v12.0.

                              • 984316 Flange Check: Flange inserted on a segment junction/continuation point may use zero values for external forces and moments for the selected Load Combination
Flanges that are inserted on a segment junction/continuation* point may incorrectly use zero values for external forces and moments for the Load Combination selected in the Flange Check module. This results in stress values that does not include the effect of external forces and moments, leading to unconservative results.
                              • 858440 Incorrect update of point name and information in interactive results
Interactive results dialog may not update to represent the correct results while navigating through interactive results e.g. result > code stress results. The avoidance is to use the batch report or result grid to review the results.
                              • 955880 ASME Nuclear Material Library: Thermal expansion and/or Modulus of elasticity values for some pipe materials may not be correct
Some pipe materials are using incorrect values of thermal expansion and/or modulus of elasticity. Using these pipe materials may result in incorrect calculated stress. The calculated stress values may be lower than the actual stress values leading to un-conservative results.

                              • 960482 ASME Material Library: SA182-F22 values are incorrectly updated for ASME2000 and later material libraries

SA182-F22 was deleted for ASME BPVC II-D 1998 and later editions. However, AutoPIPE's ASME2000 and later material libraries continued to provide SA182-F22. Also, allowable stress, yield strength and design stress intensity values of SA182-F22 in AutoPIPE's ASME2000 and later material libraries were different from those provided in ASME BPVC II-D 1992 edition. Using the allowable values from AutoPIPE's ASME2000 material library for SA182-F22 may result in higher calculated allowable stress value as compared to allowable stress values provided by AutoPIPE's ASME1992 material library.

Soil points along the bend uses pipe SIF values while it should use bend SIF values. For ASME codes this happens in all cases except when a frame is inserted at near point of the bend. For non-ASME code this happens only when a frame is inserted at near point of the bend.

                              • 936789 ASME Libraries: Some pipe materials are not referring to correct standard material

For ASME 2010 and later, "Young modulus" for following specification materials is picked from a wrong standard material: Specifications SA243-WPB, SA243-WPC, SA350-LF2, SA36, SA420-WPL6, SA515-70, SA516-60, SA516-70, SA53-A, SA541-1A, SA672-B60, SA672-B65, SA672-B70. The difference between the values is less than 2% with the maximum difference being only 1.47%.
