Problem:
Does the calculation of a body flange according to ASME VIII, div 1, consider a rigidity criterion? Is it possible to calculate a body flange considering the rigidity of the flange in an AutoPIPE Vessel model?
Solution:
Yes, the calculation of a body flange according to ASME VIII, div 1, considers a rigidity criterion (par. 2-14). This paragraph has been included in the Appendix 2 so it is mandatory now, before 2007 it was a non-mandatory appendix.
AutoPIPE Vessel is in accordance with the revisions of the code: if user selects a revision <= 2006 he has the choice to apply or not this criterion (shown in the screenshot below).
