Recommended NVIDIA graphics card settings when running AutoPIPE software.
Most important, confirm that the integrated graphics and the discrete NVIDIA graphics card on the computer both support Open GL graphics.
Integrated graphicsIntegrated graphics is a GPU built into the processor. Integrated graphics hardware doesn't use a separate memory bank for graphics/video. Instead, the GPU uses system memory that is shared with the CPU. Since integrated graphics is built into the processor, it typically uses less power and as a result creates less heat, which can result in a longer battery life. Processors with integrated graphics are most commonly found in smaller form factor systems such as laptops and Intel® NUCs.
Discrete graphicsDiscrete graphics is a GPU that is a separate from the processor. Discrete graphics has its own dedicated memory that is not shared with the CPU. Since discrete graphics is separate from the processor chip, it consumes more power and generates a significant amount of heat. However, since a discrete graphics has its own memory source and power source, it provides higher performance than integrated graphics. Discrete graphics cards are most commonly found in desktop PCs. Laptops and small form factor PCs can also contain discrete graphics cards.
Next, use the following suggested NVIDIA settings:
1. Open NVIDIA Control Panel
2. Select Managed 3D settings from the column on the left
3. Choose Program Settings tab
4. Search drop down listing for Bentley AutoPIPE under 1. Select a program to customize
If application can not be found, press Add button and locate AutoPIPE or use the Browse button to locate AutoPIPE.exe file on the computer.
Press Add Selected Program
5. Then under 2. select preferred graphics processor, choose High-performance NVIDI processor
6. Press Apply button near the bottom left corner of the dialog.
7. Close the NVIDIA control panel
8. Reboot the computer and open AutoPIPE
