"Please confirm License Change"...message appears while using AutoPIPE, why?

    Applies To
    Product(s): AutoPIPE
    Version(s): CONNECT and higher
    Area: Licensing
Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group
    Date Logged
    & Current Version

    Problem:

The following message similar to the one below appears when changing the License configuration in a CONNECTed version of the application:

    ---------------------------
    AutoPIPE Licensing
    ---------------------------
    Please confirm the license change.

You have changed the license you wish to run this product under to Advanced along with KHK 2-Add on license. Depending on the license (s) your organisation owns and product usage, this may incur additional software usage.
    ---------------------------
    Yes No
    ---------------------------

Why and what does it mean?

    Solution:

As the message displayed states "Depending on the license (s) your organization owns and product usage, this may incur additional software usage". This is a clear warning to the user that you may incur additional charges if your contract does not contain this particular license based on the License configuration settings just selected.

Whenever in doubt, contact your company's appointed Bentley Onsite Admin, they would be able to login into the Subscription Service Portal to the check the account (Entitlement / License Management) to see exactly what is on your contract. In addition the Bentley Onsite Admin can confirm a specific user's entitlements.

    Select Agreement Account

If you have an Bentley Select Account, you have a contract that allows you to use a prescribe set of applications. There will be a line item on the contract for each edition of AutoPIPE. Therefore, so long as you use the edition of AutoPIPE that appears on your contract, there will be no additional costs. However, if you choose to use an edition of AutoPIPE that was not on your contract, regardless if it is a higher or lower featured version, an invoice with additional charges will be sent to you at the end of the month for the time and edition version used outside of your contracted applications.

    Example #1:

AutoPIPE Standard edition was a line item on the Select  Account:

Used AutoPIPE Standard license on 2 models for 1 hour or 1000 hours

Regardless of how much time one used the Standard edition application over a months time no additional charges are invoiced at the end of the month because it was a line item on the contract.

    Example #2:

AutoPIPE Standard edition was a line item on the Select  Account:

Used AutoPIPE Standard license on 2 models for 159 hours

Used AutoPIPE Nuclear license on 1 models for 1 hour

Again, regardless of how much time one used the Standard edition application over a months time no additional charges are invoiced for that edition. However in this example an invoice will be sent out for charges incurred by using AutoPIPE Nuclear edition for 1 hour

    Example #3:

AutoPIPE Standard edition was a line item on the Select Account:

Used AutoPIPE Standard license on 2 models for 30 minutes

Changed License Configuration to Nuclear edition and forgot to change back to Standard edition over the entire month, total monthly time 159 hours

Again, regardless of how much time one used the Standard edition application over a months time no additional charges are invoiced for that edition. However in this example an invoice will be sent out for charges incurred by using AutoPIPE Nuclear edition for 159 hours

    Open Access Account

If you have an Bentley Open Access Account, a license will always be made available to you. At the end of the month you will only be charged for the time used by each edition of the program.

    Example #1:

Used AutoPIPE Standard license on 2 models for 50 hours

Used AutoPIPE Advanced license on 6 models 90 hours

Used AutoPIPE Nuclear license on 1 model for 20 hours.

Invoice will be based on the time used by each edition of the application.

    Example #2:

Set AutoPIPE License configuration to always use AutoPIPE Nuclear license

Made modifications on 2 models for 50 hours using features required by a Standard edition.

Made modifications on 6 models for 90 hours using features required by a Advanced edition.

Made modifications on 1 models for 20 hours using features required by a Nuclear edition..

The invoice would be based on the total hours multiplied by a Nuclear license pricing. Why, by not changing the program License Configuration setting based on the features required by a model, total hours used by each edition are assessed on the invoice.

    Conclusion:

Be mindful of what type account one has and the editions being used.

If you have any questions on entitlements, Applications on contract, etc... CALL Bentley office and speak to the Licensing Department who will help answer your questions and assist with any / all settings about user management.
