    14. Reasons #14 why OPIM stress Isometric does not create a drawing file or OPIM does not start from inside of AutoPIPE model?

    Product(s): AutoPIPE

    Area: Stress Iso

    Problem:

Why OPIM stress Isometric does not create a drawing file or OPIM does not start from inside of AutoPIPE model?

    Solution:

    Perform the following:

    1. Open any model in AutoPIPE

    2. Try to start OPIM from inside of AutoPIPE, OPIM fails to start.

Does OPIM start from the command inside of AutoPIPE?

If Yes, ignore the following. There is a different reason why the program is not generating an stress iso.

If No, then your computer may be affected by your IT department's disabled access to the Registry or key folders required for standard users using AutoPIPE

Registry access was disabled for standard users, this was causing the OPIM module to not open from with AutoPIPE and during Stress Iso creation process. This can be fixed by modifying the isometrics_ce.bat file to not use REG.exe to build paths to the executable and also not use a variable, i.e. the path to the OPIM executable was hardcoded where it was required in the batch file.

Note: User MUST have permissions to the Bentley Program Files / Program Data folders and sub folders.

Update AutoPIPE Bat file to run OPIM:

    0. Close all AutoPIPE and OPIM applications

    1. Document "OpenPlantIsoExtractor.exe" program folder location:

    C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\IsometricsManager \ OpenPlantIsoExtractor.exe

If different ok, just document path regardless.

    2. Next, locate bat file

    OPIM 10.09 and higher -  "isoextractor_ce_U9.bat" file

    OPIM 10.08 and lower -  "isoextractor_ce.bat" file

    Default installation location:

    C:\ProgramData\ Bentley\ AutoPIPE CONNECT v12\ isoextractor\

Note: Just in case, backup file to a different name or different folder location

    3. Next, right mouse click on the original file located in the original folder, select Edit from the listing

    4. Scroll down to the bottom line. Modify line as shown below:

    Original setting:

     "%MS%OpenPlantIsoExtractor.exe" %m1% %m2% %a1% %a2% %a3% -WAisoext "%~1"

    New setting

    Syntax: "(program folder location)\OpenPlantIsoExtractor.exe" %m1% %m2% %a1% %a2% %a3% -WAisoext "%~1"

    Example: "C:\Program Files\Bentley\OpenPlant CONNECT Edition\IsometricsManager\OpenPlantIsoExtractor.exe" %m1% %m2% %a1% %a2% %a3% -WAisoext "%~1"

    5. Restart AutoPIPE and try to generate a Stress isometric

    6. If problem persists, replace modified file with the original backed up from before.

    Troubleshooting:

    Step #1:

Open a Command prompt using "Open" command, and copy past the following:

    reg query HKLM\Software\Bentley\OpenPlantIsometricsManager\{7C21919A-7C44-44DE-8DC2-EF858A93931C}

    The following should appear:

If not, the steps above should resolve the issue of starting OPIM by hardcoding the path and application into the BAT file.

    Step #2:

What files are generated by AutoPIPE when creating a Stress Isometric.

    a. Close AutoPIPE.

    b. Open following folder location "C:\ProgramData\Bentley\AutoPIPE CONNECT v12\Examples\"

    i. Create a new sub-folders called Test.

ii. Copy Walkthru.dat (located in same examples folder) to Test sub folder

iii. Move folder view to side and leave open.

    d. Start AutoPIPE and select File> Open> Example> Test> WALKTHRU.DAT.

    i. At this time the only added file is the *.LCK or model lock file to prevent others from modifying the same model while you are editing it.

    e. Analyze model

    i. L001 files are generated (Analysis set #1 results)

    f. Generate a Stress Isometric using AutoPIPE command Save Stress Isometric (File > Isometric > Save Stress Isometric).

    g. Save iso to test folder

    h. Give the application 2 min to generate the isometric. If  message to Suspend / Resume or Kill remains press Kill button.

    i. Compare your listing to that of what should have been generated (image below).

    Step #3:

For companies that have security protocols in place for registry calls make the following modifications to remove these registry calls by inserting REM at the start of the lines as imaged below:
