Before you can run AutoPIPE, the software must be installed properly and a hardware lock attached and authorized. This section covers everything you need to install AutoPIPE software and the hardware lock.
Before installing AutoPIPE, be sure your computer meets the following, minimum requirements:
Platform: AutoPIPE is designed to run on the following platforms/operating systems. At a minimum, your computer should meet the requirements for that system; for example, the amount of RAM required by AutoPIPE depends on the RAM requirements of the environment in which you will be working:
- Windows XP- Windows 2000- Windows NT 4.0- Windows 98- Windows 95
Hard disk space: Approximately 42 MB
RAM: minimum 16MB
Your AutoPIPE package should include the following contents:
>Documentation: AutoPIPE Getting Started
>Software: 1 CD (Program disks on special request only)
>Open Error Reports
>Product Registration Card: If you have not filled out your card yet, you should do so now.
The License Agreement and Product Registration Card are issued to first time users of AutoPIPE only. Others upgrading may not receive these items.
This section guides you step-by-step through the AutoPIPE installation procedure. If you are familiar with installation procedures, however, and are ready to get started, ensure that the computer where AutoPIPE will be installed meets the minimum requirements outlined in the System Requirements section above, then insert the CD into a drive and run the SETUP.EXE (Windows) program. Dialogs will guide you through the process.
Preparation: Attach the security block which accompanied your software package to the first parallel port (LPT 1) on your computer or the port of the block server if you will be installing AutoPIPE on the network. If you are installing from a set of disks (as opposed to a CD), make a backup of all disks included in your package.
Start Windows, then insert the CAE CD in the CD drive. (If using disks, insert the first diskette into your disk drive.)
After the CD is inserted, the setup program should load automatically. If you need to start it manually, or if you are installing from diskettes, select the Run option from the Windows’ Start bar, the type the drive where the CD (or diskette) was placed, followed by SETUP.
Press Next from the Introductory screen, then Install Software from the subsequent dialog.
Select the AutoPIPE option from the list of application types, then follow the instructions as they are presented on-screen to complete the installation.
Review the README file, which may contain updates and information related to AutoPIPE not available at the time this documentation was written.
AutoPIPE must be installed locally on each client.
Multiple users cannot share the same directory on the network. Further, all AutoPIPE files must have both read and write privileges for AutoPIPE to function properly.
The latest program release information and changes to the program that are not included in the manual are listed in the README file located in the AutoPIPE program directory. This file can be opened from the AutoPIPE Readme option in AutoPIPE for Windows menu in the taskbar.
