01. "C:\Program Files (X86)\..." - Type mismatch dialog message appears when reviewing the results grids in AutoPIPE, why?

Problem:

The following appears when using the Results grids

Why and how to avoid?

Solution:

As the message states, the model database has one or more elements that has 0.00 element stiffness.

Question: How does one find these offending elements.

Answer: Perform a thorough review of the model's complete input report. What to look for:

a. Look for settings that are blank where values should be.

b. Look for values set to 0.00 when there should be a value > 0.00.

Test your observation power:

What is the problem in this Bend report?

Answer:

Correct!! the bend at A52 has a Bend type set to Close, therefore number of the Flange Cuts should be greater than or equal to 1 and less than or equal to 6. Somehow the user was able to trick the program and enter zero cuts for a Close bend type.

Avoidance:

Double click the offending bend to open the bend dialog, confirm number of cuts is correct, and press OK to close the dialog. confirm the number of cuts in the input grids to be correct and continue your review.
