Why stresses are not varying in both Von-Mises & Tresca theory in ASME B31.3?
As per ASME B31.8 & B31.4 we can calculate the combined stresses by Octahedral stress or Max shear stress equations. You can select the desired theory (O/M) from result menu. Here, O stands for Octahedral stress & M stands for Tresca code stress. However, ASME B31.3 code has only one equation to calculate the displacement stress range and there will be no effect on code stresses based on whichever method you selected in Total Stress(Oct/Max) option. Based on the theory selected general stresses will change but the code stresses remain same.
