Problem:

Role a bend and Insert a 45 deg bend between 2 node point on the horizontal plane

Details:

Need to roll down toward the south (-X axis) existing LR 90 EL at U04 and then add a 45 EL between U04 and U03.  The tangent point for the new 45 EL will be 28" south of U04 (-X axis) and 28" down (-Y axis).  This results in dropping (-Y axis) U03 28".  The above results in dropping (-Y axis) P00 28".  The final elevation of P00 needs to drop (-Y axis) by only 6".  Therefore the  vertical distance (Y axis) between U02 and P00 needs to change from 4.83' to 3'.

Solution:

One solution to this issue is to use the following steps:

1. Starting pipe layout per segment color:

2. First, since this model is using English units with Feet and inches, change Edit model options:

Digits after decimal for coordinates = 4

Use feet-inches display format = checked ON

3. Next, insert new 45 deg bend node point between U03 and U04

Select Node point U04, Insert Bend ( because of segment direction, Add Point Before/After = Before), Length = 28"

Press OK to insert the new node point U15. A Error message will appear about the bend, this is OK, the modifications are not complete.

3. Read the requirements again, the bend at the top of the vertical rise is to be 28" lower. OK, so let us do that now.

4. Select the node points from U15 to U2 N, highlighted Red. With the piping selected, start the Stretch command, enter Dy = - 28", press OK button

Again, there are a number of dialogs that appear, press OK each time.

5. Notice that the piping layout is now updated as desired.

6. Check Model Consistency for any Warnings or Errors related to this layout modification.

No warnings or errors were reported.

7. Done!!! how easy was that?

8. Well to be honest we are not Done, check the requirements. The original requirement was to insert a 45 deg bend with a 28" rise to the horizontal piping going west (U04) - east (U05). This would have dropped the pipe running south (U02) - north (U015) 28". This is confirmed by the points grids, distance between U15 and U04.

Remember above:

" Therefore the  vertical distance (Y axis) between U02 and P00 needs to change from 4.8300' to 3'.

Converting these to feet and inches,  4.8300 ft = 4' 9.96".

Subtract 28" from 4' 9.96" = 2' 5.96"

Again this is confirmed by the modified Piping layout points tab.

9. If the intent was to maintain a distance elevation change from Tee (P00) vertically up to the bend (U02) = 3' and to insert a 28" vertical rise from the 45 deg elbow. Again this is easily accomplished, but care should be taken to not inadvertently make any downstream piping mistakes.

Option #1: Consider using the same technique above, make a selection set, and then use the Stretch command.

Option #2: Update the 2' 5.96" value in the Points to 3'

Option #3: Open the U2 bend dialog , correct the Dy offset value and enable the "Apply offset to all following points" check box.

Again, these options will update the piping layout in 3 different was be mindful which one to use.
