Problem:

ERROR: The vertical axis of model and Pipelink file are not same...  message appears when importing PipeLink file from STAAD, why?

Solution:

Open AutoPIPE model General model options and confirm the vertical axis direction:

Next open the STAAD model and confirm the vertical axis direction:

Ah.HA...!!

The vertical axis was found to be set to Y-dir.

Note:

The STTAD pipelink.DB file can be opened directly using a application like DB Browser for SQLite. Once open, select the Browse Data tab, and select Table: AP_Model_Data. Next, look at the column heading Piping _Z_UP

If value = 0, then vertical axis direction in STAAD is Y-axis.

If value = 1, then vertical axis direction in STAAD is Z-axis.

Avoidance

Decide which model will have the vertical Axis orientation changed, the STAAD Model or the AutoPIPE model. Regardless, the vertical axis must match between the 2 models.

- If changing the STAAD model, export a new pipelink.DB file for import into AutoPIPE

- If changing the AutoPIPE model, open General model options dialog and modify the vertical axis as needed, then try to import the same STAAD file again. The error message should not appear.
