Import Process

While using Aveva E3D PSI, export a XML file (reference Aveva Help for details on exporting this file). Next open AutoPIPE and select E3D PSI(*.xml) import command (File > Import/Export > Import > E3D PSI(*.xml)). The application will display an Open dialog, search for the XML file to be opened, press Open button, process through any any additional dialogs as needed, and in a moment the model should be displayed in AutoPIPE.

Known E3D PSI Import Issues

01. Model cannot be imported:

There can be any number of reasons why a model cannot be imported. Here is a list of known issues

i. Bad file from E3D

As of September 2023 an E3D PSI file was sent with the following problems. (open the XML file in any word editor and review).

Suggest to contact E3D PSI technical support to address issues with creating a bad exported XML file.

1. <Temperature1>-100000</Temperature1>

Comment: no temperature should be set to this value

2. <NodeNumber>-1</NodeNumber>

Comment: Node numbers cannot have a -ve value.

3. <ComponentType>BRAN</ComponentType>

Comment: AutoPIPE does not have a BRAN component and thus the component cannot be imported

4. <OutsideDiameter>2.36220472440945</OutsideDiameter>

Comment: no standard pipe size with this exact size

5. <WallThickness>0</WallThickness>

Comment: this is an error that must be fixed before importing.
