Before installing AutoPIPE one or more of the applications installed by the program has already been installed and has a higher version than would be installed by AutoPIPE's installer.
Questions:
1. How would AutoPIPE's installer handle these issues?
2. Would there be any adverse affects with using a higher version of an application than would normally be installed by AutoPIPE?
etc..
Example:
Installing AutoPIPE 23.00.00.230 on computer will install the following list of other applications:
PCF Translator | v.1.3.0.230 |
PDS Translator | v.6.0.0.020 |
ADL Pipe Translator | v.1.0.0.026 |
ME101 Translator | v.1.0.0.006 |
Structural Property Catalog | 10.00.00.015 |
Bentley DGN Preview Handler | 10.17.01.556 |
Bentley DGN Thumbnail Provider | 10.17.01.11 |
iTwin Analytical Synchronizer | v.12.02.01.010 |
iTwin Service Add in V2 | 2.3.0.55 |
Connection Client | 11.0.5.34 |
Microsoft SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 | 3.5.8080.0 |
However before installing AutoPIPE user knows that Structural Property Catalog v. 10.00.02.003 has already been installed.
This is one of those situations that needs to be addressed by a case by case bases. Meaning that in some case a newer version of the application would be OK, and in other cases a newer version of the application would cause major issues when using AutoPIPE.
Let us look at each application installed by AutoPIPE one at a time and try to answer the question, is it safe or not.
PCF Translator |
Translators transform a file from one format into an NTL or DAT file, which AutoPIPE may subsequently open. In this instance, having any new version of these applications on the PC shouldn't have any negative effects on AutoPIPE. Actually, the import procedure should be aided by an newer version that is already installed when compared to that included in AutoPIPE's installer. It is safe to have a newer version of this application when compared to the version installed by AutoPIPE installer. |
PDS Translator | |
ADL Pipe Translator | |
ME101 Translator | |
Structural Property Catalog |
This application is used by AutoPIPE when importing / exporting ISM model and is installed with iTwin Analytical Synchronizer installation option. Any newer version of the application would have an expanded catalog of beam section and updates for any incorrect properties. It is safe to have a newer version of this application when compared to the version installed by AutoPIPE installer. |
Bentley DGN Preview Handler | ? |
Bentley DGN Thumbnail Provider | |
iTwin Analytical Synchronizer |
iTwin Analytical Synchronizer is the Engineer’s gateway into the world of digital twins, interoperability and collaboration. Supported applications and formats include STAAD, RAM, AutoPIPE, OpenBuildings Designer, ProStructures, REVIT, TEKLA and IFC. Note, iTwin Service Add in V2 and Structural Property Catalog are required applications in order to use iTwin Analytical Synchronizer. Before continuing, answer this question, will you Import/Export models using iTwins Service inside of AutoPIPE?
Next, before installing AutoPIPE confirm if this application is already on the computer.
Does the version of this application already installed match or is lower than the one found in the AutoPIPE's installer?

Connection Client |
The CONNECTION Client is a key part of the Subscription Entitlement Service, where users sign in to activate their products. It also provides access to services that cut across applications, such as notifications and service updates, for use within desktop applications. A newer version would have fixes to known issues and updated features. User's would strongly be advised to keep this application updated with current release as soon as possible. It is safe to have a newer version of this application when compared to the version installed by AutoPIPE installer. |
