Problem:
Does AutoPIPE model Buckling?
Solution:
Currently AutoPIPE V8i 9.5 has one buckling check for calculating the critical ring buckling pressure on underground piping. Please see the following AutoPIPE help section: Help > Contents> Search Tab> enter "buckling" (include the quotes), press List Topics button, double click on the selected topic from the list provided to see more information.
Otherwise at this time there are no other forms of buckling checks in the applicaiton. Most of the piping codes do not have any criteria associated with bukling except Off-shore design code DNV F101 . A new enhancment has been logged under CAE-CR-8061: Add DNV 2012 piping code is on schduled to be added to AutoPIPE V8i 9.6 (release date Q3 2013). In addtion, the development team is considering the possibility of performing a simple buckling check on a user entered limit.
The CAE development team cannot provide ASME B31.3 app P check into ASME B31.1 because it is not explicitly written into ASME B31.1 and therefore not yet accepted by the code committee.

Description: Upheaval buckling module. This calculates the possibility of pipeline buckling under internal pressure and temperature. this module is very complex it also calculates the additional rock dumping required to increased the buckling resistance of the pipeline.
