    Alias StressISO for AutoPIPE 09.06.01.xx and Lower - Stress Iso Configuration files

    Applies To
    Product(s): AutoPIPE,
    Version(s): 2004, XM, & V8i
    Environment: N/A
    Area: Export
    Subarea:
    Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group

    The customizable Stress Isometric plot is created using the Alias ISOGEN Engine and shows a) fully dimensioned isometric plot b) tables of important summary design data including model information, pipe properties, valve and flange data, maximum stresses, design support data, design spring and constant hanger data, design load data for vessels, structures and equipment.

    The File> Save Stress Isometric command starts this process and relies upon many different files to store settings (marked in red) used by isogen to create the output drawing file:

    These setting files are stored in two locations:

    1. C:\ Bentley \ AutoPIPE V8i SELECTseries4

    2. C:\ Bentley \ AutoPIPE V8i SELECTseries4 \ PISOGEN\PROJECTS \ APIPEPROJ \ FINAL \

    The following is dedicated to comments, questions, and answers about these settings files.

    Comments, Questions, and Answers:

    Item #1:

    I had modified the following files:

    C:\Bentley\ AutoPIPE V8i SELECTseries\ PISOGEN\ PROJECTS\ APIPEPROJ\ FINAL\

                --> FUNCTIONDEF.FDF
                --> LINELIST.csv

    When we run the StressIso command something removes the lines I added to the DDF file and the 2 lines added to the FLS file.  I have noticed that some of the information in the DDF file is actually overridden by information in the stressiso.ini file but I wasn't able to find anywhere in any of the ini files where it should be removing the lines I have added to the DDF and FLS. Why are the lines being removed and how to work around it?

    Answer:

    There is an issue in AutoPIPE that it removes any strings added after the "SYMBOL-KEYS" block.

    Avoidance: add modifications before the "SYMBOL-KEYS" block. i.e.

    In addition, the FLS file can be overwritten completely. So we have to logged an enhancement to stop this from happening. There is no avoiding this issue.

    Item #2:

    I was looking at the pcf file that is created and I noticed it doesn't write anything for the pipeline-reference but adds one called system-isometric-reference and the line number is associated with it. What do I need to do so it also writes the line number with the pipeline-reference setting?

    Answer:

    Define PIPELINE-REFRENCE only once for a model in "Tools >> Settings >> PCF CAD Mapping" and this text was written in exported PCF file. See the screenshot below

    To display the line number in exported ISO you can follow the following steps

    A. Define Line Number in an model

    B. On exporting to Stress ISO checked the option "Line Number"

    C. Then you can see the Line Number text on the exported drawing

    Item #3:

    Can I still use Alias Stress ISO with AutoPIPE 09.06.01.xx and higher?

    Answer:

    No, but Maybe

    Alias isogen is a 3rd party application outside of AutoPIPE. This software was installed automatically with AutoPIPE 08.xx.xx.xx to 09.06.00.xx. After that point, starting with AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.01.xx and higher, Alias Isogen software has been deprecated or is no longer installed with AutoPIPE. However, AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.01.xx still has the ability to export the files required by Isogen to create an iso drawing, but since the Alias Isogen application was not installed nothing happens when executing the Save Stress Iso command.

    Bentley cannot control the removal of older versions of the AutoPIPE program or automatically installed software. IF a version of AutoPIPE had been installed on the computer that automatically installed the Alias Isogen application, it would still be there unless deleted by the user. Therefore, if the newer version of AutoPIPE 09.06.01.xx was installed, although this version would not install the 3rd party application, but executing the Save Stress Iso command in this newer version would use the existing software installed by a previous version to create an Iso drawing. Again, under these circumstances only, when AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.01.xx command to create an iso drawing was executed an iso drawing would be created.

    Note, Alias isogen is no longer supported in AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.02 and higher. therefore the information mentioned above would no longer work for this version and higher. Again, AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.02.xx and higher will only interface with Bentley Isometric Manager, all Alias Isogen commands have been stripped out of the program.
