The following Flange Analysis enhancements have been logged for inclusion into a future version of AutoPIPE:
Note: if an enhancement has not been added to the program, log an Service request for that enhancement. The more requests logged per an enhancement, the quicker the CAE development team will add that feature to the program.
Description: See WIKI here
Development Project: TBD
Description:
Flange standard diameters for inside diameter when translated to SI contains very small floating point errors. These errors are recognized by AutoPIPE, which disallows users to enter inside diameter in SI.
Avoidance:
On the General Model Options dialog set the Input units = AutoPIPE, press OK, open the Flange analysis dialog, select the Flange Tab, enter the calculated Inside diameter based on English units, Press OK button, change the Inpt units from English back to the original setting, and re-open the Flange analysis dialog, may need to re-enter the inside flange diameter again, but no warning should appear this time.
After using the procedure above, suggest using Copy / Paste to quickly update similar flanges.
Development Project: 11.1 and higher
AutoPIPE only accepts a maximum pipe standard dimension of 900mm, however the maximum standard flange OD in the flange analysis dialog exceeds this limit.
Steps to reproduce:
Certain nominal standard pipes sizes (e.g. >900mm) are not accepted by the flange dimension library (e.g. B16-47) when selecting the library. This is due to a floating point error found in the program (42" != 42.00001"). An error pops up showing the incorrect nominal pipe size.
1. Create any SI model with a 1066.8 mm (42") nominal diameter pipe
2. Add a weldneck flange to the pipe with a 300 pressure rating
3. Run the analysis and open the flange analysis dialog
4. Set the analysis method to ASME Section VIII div. 1 and navigate to the Flange tab
5. Set the Flange/Bolt Dimension dropdown to B16-47
A warning will pop up, stating that the nominal pipe size is invalid.
Set the model input unit file to AutoPIPE, then set the outer diameter of the pipe in question to the appropriate standard OD. Finally, set the input units to the desired file. DO NOT touch the OD dialog again.
When flange is inserted on a point that already has any type of extra data item then flange analysis will fail for flanges at that point.
Steps to repeat:
- Create a model with some run points.
- Insert any extra data at a point.
- Insert flange at that point.
- Analyze the model.
- Open Flange analysis dialog and run ANSI Check analysis for the flange.
- Notice that "Max. Ratio" is set to zero and analysis fail.
Insert flange first and then insert any other extra data item.
OR
- Delete all extra data items from point.- Insert flange- Insert the deleted extra data items back

Flange Analysis - Add Bolting Materials to library based on Size / thickness values.
Example:
Bolting material = SA-193-B8M-2
For ASME Section III - 2010, Table 3 has 4 different lines of data for this material based on Size / Thickness. The different Thickness ranges have different corresponding Tensile Strength, Yield Strength, and Allowable values based on temperature. The user would like all 4 added of these added to the program.
Workaround:
Until the library file has been updated, set Bolting Material = User and manually enter the correct values on the dialog.

Add Stoomwezen D0701 flange check in the Flange Analysis module
Add API-6A flange sizes for use in both ASME and ANSI flange analysis calculations
The Operating pressure can take large values and AP does not allow the values greater than 3000 .There should no Upper limit on the Operating Pressure Field.
Development Project: 9.6.
