In AutoPIPE 4.6, the supports at each location are identified as "y-stop" and "guides". how do I know what the gap & friction settings are for these supports when looking at the model input listing report?
Answer:
Open the model input listing report to the Component Data Listing section of the report (as shown below):
The above image shows a small section of the Component Data Listing report with 2 supports: Node B01 with no gaps, and Node B02 with gap settings. As can clearly be seen, a support that has gap settings will have details about the gaps provided. However, a support with 0.00 or No gaps will be blank where it is assumed that the all gaps are 0.00 in all directions for the given support. Ths same philosophy can be applied for other support settings (i.e. Friction, connected to point, etc..).
I am using a newer version of AutoPIPE, trying to create a model from an older version (AutoPIPE 6.3 or earlier) component listing report. Do you have any tips for reading an older report and modeling in a newer version of AutoPIPE.
As a general rule of thumb, suggest the following:
1. Model all the piping geometry first ignoring all other details (i.e. Load, supports, etc..). The thought is to get the piping geometry correct and then go back into the model and insert the other data as needed.
2. When the model is complete, in order to catch mistakes compare the new model listing report to the original using Tools> Model Input listing> Use version 6.1 report format = checked ON, create the report and compare to the original report manually or with software (i.e. Beyond compare, Ultra Compare, etc..) Example,
Report from AutoPIPE 4.6:
Report from AutoPIPE V8i 09.06.00.15:
Note, Segment B starts at A06 in the original model report but at B00 in the new model report. Therefore the models are not the same and in this case, segment B is not connected to the segment A at a Tee. This can easily be verified in AutoPIPE by reviewing the Tool> Model Consistency Check> report. Always try to keep the reported warnings to a few as possible. In the report the following was found:
* * * W A R N I N G - MODEL * * * W726-12: Following Segment(s) not connected to other segments and has no anchors B
Thus clearly indicating a problem that needs to be addressed in the new model before analyzing the system. In addition, before an analysis is performed, suggest reviewing also Tools> Design Check report to be sure that there were no other mistakes in the current model or oversight of the original model that needs to be addressed.
In the end, the model listing reports should match exactly except for updated modifications as required to the model.
Report is not available in AutoPIPE 12.04, how can I generate this report again using this newer version?
This report is no longer available. It was considered an outdated report format and was removed. Please consider embracing the newer style reports.
