I will want to know what is the best practice to handle multiple autoplant projects and I am wondering if it is possible to create more than one project to a single database.
the documentation shows that you need to create a database and then assing a login to the database. the current relationship is 1-1 one database - one login.
for DBA point of view is easy to administrate few database with multiple projects, rather to multiple databases only with one project.
For future reference, you should consider posting inquiries like this in the forum -- just select the forums tab, select the applicable forum, and post your inquiry there. TIA
I saw other post about difficulties of the multi-project mode for the administration of Autoplant.
I have a case with our DBA because multiple databases represent more administration work from the DBA side (backup/restore, replication, performance, memory) but if there difficulties with the application in a multiproject mode I rather prefer have multiple databases.
AutoPLANT does support what is called "Multi_Project Mode". In Multi-Project mode you can have one database that contains data for multiple AutoPLANT Projects.
This does require the use of SQL Server or Oracle and IS NOT supported with Access.
Look at the Documentation for Project Administrator for creating Multi-Project mode databases/projects.
