In OpenPlant Isometrics Manager, below exercise will illustrate to get INSTR tag with bubble. It can be realized with AutoPLANT Modeler.

Background

In OpenPlant Isometrics Manager with AutoPLANT Modeler, by default it does not bring over Instrument tags nor is there an “out of box” method for placing a tag in an Instrument Bubble. Most users will require this capability, so below steps will describe to get TAGNUMBER into OPIM and inserted into a Bubble Cell. Below is a default representation of how an instrument is shown in OPIM.

Steps to Accomplish

This will execute in 3 steps:
A. Mapping the MODEL property.
B. Creating a New cell for the instrument bubble.
C. Creating a New User Label for the Instrument Bubble

A. Mapping the MODEL property.

  1. Launch Bentley Class Editor and open OpenPlant_3D.01.04.ecschema.xml from C:\YourProject\ Config\OpenPlant\ schemas.
  2. Search for the GAUGE class. Once found double click it to go to that location in the Class tree.

  3. Go to the Properties tab and find MODEL. You will have to highlight it and Override it.

  4. Next select the Custom attributes and Add/Remove.

  5. Find AUTOPLANT_PDW_Property_Map attribute. Highlight it and choose the down arrow to add it. Choose OK.

  6. Once it’s added, input TAGNUMBER under the PropertyName. At this point we have mapped the TAGNUMER AutoPLANT property to the MODEL property for the GAUGE class. Save the Schema.

Note: Although we are doing this for the Instrument Gauge, you may want to map this Property directly under the INSTRUMENTS class so this is mapped for all instrument classes, not just GAUGE.

B. Creating a New cell for Instrument Bubble.

  1. Launch the OpenPlant Isometrics configuration, choose your ISO style and choose Advanced > Open Seed File.

  2. Once the seed opens, go to the IsoExtractor menu and choose Cell Creation Tool.

  3. Once the Create Cell tool box opens, choose Open Template file.

  4. We could create a cell in one of the template files and then port it into a cell library but for this example we will create the cell directly in the Lisocomp.cel. Open the C:\YourProjects\Config\OpenPlant\Isometrics\styles\MODISO\cell\ lisocomp.cel.

  5. Open your Lisocomp.cel and copy the NOTE cell to a new cell called INSBUB.
  6. Delete the rectangle and place a circle in its place. Make sure that drawings are on Level1.

  7. Save and exit the cell library.

C. Creating a New User Label for the Instrument Bubble

  1. Back in the OpenPlant Isometrics configuration, choose User Labels.
  2. Create a new User label as show below.

  3. The final result is shown below. Take note that you may have to scale your text, enlarge your bubble or change the text to 2 lines to fit properly.
