Background

Normally, in OPM when we place mating flange with different FACING, an error is displayed in the message center saying "Components not Compatible. Component properties do not match: FACING". But in some cases you have to place the mating flange with different facing and this article will explain what changes are required.

For example we will review, weld-neck flange which has RAISED_FACE and FLAT_FACE facings.

Steps to Accomplish

  1. Open the project PCF file in notepad.

  2. Search for the FACING word using search tool in notepad. you will find this variable OPM_MATCH_PROPERTY_MAP_FACING.

  3. By default this variable is disabled. Delete the # sign from this variable.

  4. Now add the following in this variable:

    |RAISED_FACE;FLAT_FACE

Note: Please make sure that you are defining the correct name (Full Name) for facing as given in the schemas and spec files. You can cross-check if the facing value is defined in OpenPlant_Catalogue_Supplemental_Mapping_Modeling.01.07 schema.

  5. Save the changes in PCF file.

Setting in Managed Workspace

  1. Open the Project configuration block.

  2. Locate OPM_MATCH_PROPERTY_MAP_FACING variable in the configuration tab.

  3. Double click to open the variable setting and delete last two rows.

  4. Edit first row and add the values as shown below.

  5. Click OK on this dialog and subsequent dialog to apply the changes.

Verify the result

  1. Launch OPM.

  2. Open a model and place a Weld-Neck flange with the RAISED_FACE facing.

  3. Now again select the weld-neck flange from tasks and select FLAT_FACE.

  4. Connect this flange with previously placed flange. It will allow the connection without any error.
