In OpenPlant Modeler, to create a custom component tool button in task panel.

Background

Custom Piping Component in OpenPlant Modeler can be placed using Place custom component from cell tool. Sometimes there is a big amount of different custom components and each time searching for required component cell can be time consuming process. There is possibility to create a separate sections with special tool buttons in Tasks Panel.

Steps to resolve

For prerequisites a Custom Component is already prepared with his catalog and specification.

  1. Create a new interface for your project and open your model.

  2. Go to Workspace > Customize. In Customize dialog click File and in presented list click on your newly created Interface *.dgnlib file

  3. Then in your *.dgnlib create a New Tool Box.

  4. Steam Trap component tool is already created and located in pm_tools.dgnlib>Piping>Inline Components>Trap. Copy this tool and paste it in your *.dgnlib Tool Box. Then in Command data paste this Key-in "mechaddin place STEAM_TRAP dsc=piping" and edit other settings as in this picture below:

  5. Copy this Tool Box form your User Tools and paste it in same *.dgnlib in User Tasks

  6. Close everything, Start OpenPlant Modeler and open your project model with new Interface.

  7. New Tool Box with Custom Components Tool Button is created and active for use.

Note  - In this example we have created Tool button for a Steam Trap component. Steam Trap components are not implemented in OpenPlant Modeler and for this component representation we have copied most similar component Y-Strainer's custom attributes and properties.
