Overview

To Place Fasteners and Flanges of Same Ratings in OpenPlant Modeler

Problem Description

User was placing Y-Strainer of PN16 rating. Now after Y-Strainer placement, user was asked for Bolts and Gasket placement. User placed Bolts and gaskets twice (for both ends) of PN16 ratings. Flange selection table was not popping up and it automatically placed flanges but of different rating i.e. PN10. User wants to have a selection dialog for Flanges as well as same ratings of all components i.e. Y-Strainer, Bolts, Gaskets and Flanges.

Steps to Resolve

  1. Launch OpenPlant Project Administrator

  2. Select OPModeler_Metric Project

  3. Launch Specifications Generator from Tools menu

  4. Once Specifications Generator launched, go to Tools –-> Preferences

  5. Make sure correct path is selected for Catalog Directory and Spec Directory

  6. Open “mDin” Spec in Specification Generator

  7. Once spec is opened, Select Auto Flange from Tool menu

  8. Check boxes for “WELD_NECK_FLANGE” up to say 400 and press OK to “Auto Flange” dialog

  9. Go to “Flange” section and Add ratings (PN10: PN16:PN25:PN40) for WELD_NECK_FLANGE class (If not added already)

  10. Go to “Fastener” section and Add ratings (PN10: PN16:PN25:PN40) for BOLT, GASKET and STUD_BOLT (If not added already)

  11. Save the changes from File menu and Exit Specifications Generator

  12. Go to Project directory and open project PCF file[in this case “OPModeler_Metric.pcf”]
    “C:\ProgramData\Bentley\OpenPlantModeler V8i\WorkSpace\Projects”

  13. Search for Variable “OPM_QUERY_BOLTS_WITH_IGNORE_LENGTH” and change its value from 0 to 1
NOTE: If this is set to 1 then bolt length is not used to query bolts. It should return all bolts that match the size and matching criteria specified

  14. Save the changes and close pcf file

  15. Now Launch OpenPlant Modeler

  16. Open model using project “OPModeler_Metric”

  17. Once model opened, turn on “Use Auto Flange Table” and “Show Spec Grid for Auto Tables” from “Standard Preferences for Piping Component” dialog

  18. Place a Pipe of 250mm size

  19. Place Y-Stainer (Rating – PN16)

  20. Now “WELD_NECK_FLANGE” table will pop up, select PN16 rating weld neck flange with “C_Din” Fluid Facing

  21. Now select Gasket and bolts of PN16 rating for both sides

  22. After placement completion, select “Flange” and open Element info

  23. Flange rating should be PN16
