AUTO PLANT-I.DGN FILE FORMATS

Hello,

I recently created an i.dgn file format from importing a JSM Auto Plant file into I-Model Composer and publishing the i.dgn file.  I want to work with this file that was exported as an i.dgn since it is the existing plant system from our client.  However, I notice that Auto Plant will not allow me to reference the file even as background information.  I can reference the file into a standard Civil 3D file but I am unable to do anything more with it.   Is my observation correct that I will not be able to use the i.dgn model file, even as a background reference, inside Auto Plant or is there some work flow to accomplish this?

  • Bentley i-model Composer is a desktop application used for creating i-models from data generated by design applications. It supports the creation and publication of i-models from a wide range of file formats generated by Bentley and third-party design applications in the Plant, Building, Civil, and GeoSpatial industries.

Bentley i-model Composer is part of a suite of applications which make up Bentley´s new design review offering known as Dynamic Review for Models. Though i-models can be used for many purposes within a federated information workflow, in the context of dynamic review, they are used primarily for design review purposes.

Other applications within the Dynamic Review for Models suite, such as Bentley Navigator and Bentley View, provide the design review capabilities, including real-time navigation, item browsing, query and review, markup and commenting. These applications in turn operate on the i-models generated by Bentley i-model Composer.
