BRCM Single Conductor Cable Designation

How does BRCM account for cable tray fill when one circuit number input into it is comprised of three single conductor cables and a ground cable?

We use a CIRCUIT NUMBER not a CABLE NUMBER.

A single CIRCUIT NUMBER could be a multi-conductor cable (no problem as we put in the diameter of the cable in the cable type), or three or four single conductor cables.  For conduit fill this would be easy as we could input the total area of all three or four cables in the cable type, but this does not work for cable tray fill, especially where cable sizes are larger than 4/0.

  • in new BRCM version we are adding a circuit number as optional attribute to each cable. Circuit number is used to designate a triangular cable laying method for a three phase cables ( this is optional and needs to be configured)

Each cable in BRCM has to have a unique cable number or cable ID. There is no exception if multiple cables are used to create a single circuit, each cable still has to have a unique cable ID.

Cable import can not be done if cable doesn't have a unique value for a Cable ID
