OpenPlant with linked PDF and iModels

Hi All

We are living the link engineering dream in OpenPlant.

At them moment we have plan views, sections and details running with the callouts.  We have also linked PDF files to components using the links tool in drawing composition.

So now when we publish the iModel the plan views, sections and details all work perfectly except the PDF files does not work.  The link icon is visible in Navigator, but the file icon has changed from PDF to Micorstation and the link file extension now shows xxx.pdf.i.dgn.  Probably why the icon changed to Microstation.

Is this supposed to work, can you link files in dgn and when you publish the imodel have the files available or is this not currently possible.

Hope somebody can advise soon.

Many Thanks

Spyker

  • HI Spyker,

I just got info back from the I-model Technology Group on your question.

We currently don’t support the embedding of non-DGN linked files in packaged i-models including PDFs. Also confirmed was that changing the extension of the non-DGN linked file to include .i.dgn is a defect, and that it will be fixed for the March heartbeat release.

There is plans for support for embedding non-DGN linked files but that is not planned for release until later in 2015.
