OPPID v.427 - Data Manager Connected Line/Equipment Issue

Hello there,

Once I place an Instrument in OPPID and then synchronize the PID to Data Manager, this instrument works fine only if it is directly connected to the pipe run or equipment. However, if I want to place an instrument that contains an object as part of the Instrument (for example a magnetic flow meter or a control valve), or if this instrument is not directly connected to an equipment or pipe run (for example a flow transmitter connected to the magnetic flow meter, or DCS signals), the information related to Connected Line/Equipment cells on Data Manager doesn't appear. I have tried in both directions, creating tags on Data Manager and then synchronize to OPPID and creating the instrument on OPPID and then synchronize to Data Manager.

Hope someone can help me, thank you.

  • Fernando,

I'm sorry that you are having this issue. Thank you for your detailed explanation as well. It seems that this is either a Relationship issue or a data mapping issue. Can you reply back here with your exact steps to replicate? Does this happen on one of our "Out of the Box" projects on your machine or just your custom project? If we can't get this fixed using this method we can take this offline, create a new Service Request and have a meeting to discuss. Thank you.

  • Brandon, excuse my delayed reply, here is my explanation:

     - I did this example in both projects: custom and "out of the Box"

     - the steps were:

    create tags on Data Manager

    synchronize to OPPID

add elements on OPPID using "browse" procedure

    synchronize to Data Manager

Check on Data Manager if the fields "CONNECTED_LINE" or "CONNECTED_EQUIP" are filled or not

In the following picture, I show you what types of elements work and what elements don't.

In this case, the elements that are directly connected (CV-0001, FE-0002, FE-0001) to the line work fine, the field on Data Manager are correctly filled. On the other hand, elements that are connected to another instruments (FIT-0002 and FI-0002), Data Manager doesn't recognize to what element is connected. In particular, I created "relationships" between these elements as you can see in the right column of the figure. In this case you can appreciate that FE-0001 contains FIT-0002 and FI-0002, however, Data Manager doesn't show this information.

I would like to repeat that I did this example in both projects, and the previous image is from the "Out of the box" example, and the problem is related to "CONNECTED_LINE" or "CONNECTED_EQUIP" tags.
