OPM Nozzle with a wafer item has no bolts

OPM version - 08.11.09.440

Using the out of the box Metric specs and project I placed a vessel with 2 Nozzles both 350mm diameter from the mA1-OPM spec.

Placed a spectacle blind on one of the nozzles then placed a weld neck flange onto each.

The one with out the spectacle blind worked, I got gaskets and bolts.

The one with the spectacle blind I got gaskets but no bolts.  Not sure why??

Next I thought I would run a check connectivity, selected the items and ran this command, I got 2 sets of bolts, both having 0 length and 0 dia.

What do I need to do to make bolts appear when placing a wafer item on a nozzle?

  • Hi,

Could you please provide some snapshot? I am already investigating a similar issue and this will help me move further.

  • Hello,

I believe there was an issue in case of wafer component + Nozzle with the version you mentioned and it has been fixed in latest version of OpenPlant Modeler. You can run a quick test on the same with latest version or higher build which is 08.11.09.462 & confirm.

However we could also wait for Harpreet's observation on this. Otherwise you may please create Service Request for the same mentioning details steps to it.

  • Hi Rahul,
Is the fix something that can be easily added to the version I'm running?
We have strict rule about upgrading on this project.

    Thanks

  • Thanks Ray,

Could you please file a Service Request for this? This is still an issue with latest version. Will need to file a defect for this.

  • This is an issue that was recently discovered on one of our projects. It only appeared to happen with spectacle blanks, paddle blanks, and ring spacers. They wouldn't place gaskets or stud bolts automatically, especially at nozzles. Moving the blanks didn't add the gaskets, but moving the flange away from and back to the blanks would place the gaskets and bolts. Unfortunately, the only way to get them to appear against the nozzle was to move the nozzle away from the blank and back. Then it placed the gasket and bolts but moved the nozzle to make room for the gasket. It also added two sets of stud bolts at the nozzle connection. The connectivity check didn't recognize the connection between the flange and the spectacle blind. This was in build 440 but does not occur in build 581.

So the only way to make them work, unfortunately, was to mess around with the placement and move items until you got what you wanted. The problem isn't in the specs or the schemas but seems to be buried farther in the program. I agree with Harpreet; file a service request and make note of what works and doesn't work so they can dig further and possibly come up with a solution for you.
