How do I modify the GATSW symbol (or any valve symbol) to get it to dimension to the center of the valve?

I followed this wiki: http://communities.bentley.com/products/plant/design___engineering/w/plant_design_and_engineering__wiki/12647.modifying-symbols

But when I add an intersect point, i get this error when I generate the iso: GATSWerror[5]Unable to place symbol: GATSW

How do I modify the symbol to change where the dimension line connects to the symbol?

Karl

  • Hello Karl,

    Thank you for this.

One easiest way would be to copy the existing cell and re-use it by defining it with different ports like explained in below wiki.

    http://communities.bentley.com/products/plant/design___engineering/w/plant_design_and_engineering__wiki/17219.error-5-cell-not-found-in-libraries-gatsw-ft

Intersection Point applies to the cell which relates to the inline components which has some branches. e.g Tee, 3 way vlave, Multiway valve etc. For a gate Valve there should be only two CP's, CP1 & CP2 corresponds to MAIN PORT & RUN PORT.

    Hope it helps here.

  • How do I make the dimension line connect to the center of of the valve and not CP1 or CP2?

  • Hi Karl,

To Dimension from mid point of valves, you can check, "Isometric Configuration" dialog inside "Dimensioning" section. See image below.

Alternatively, you can also check below wiki, where using overirides.txt file, you can control specific set of valves for midpoint dimensioning. Check Example#4 here.

    Hope it helps!
