OpenPlant: Update component after copy command

Hi,

I am existing Autoplant user and now moving to Openplant Modeler.

Just wondering is there any option in openplant modeler to get update component dialog box after copy command?

This was very helpful in Autoplant to copy single  or multiple component and change there properties just after finishing command.

Current I don't see same is happening   in modeler, But OPPID does have this option.

If your in develop stage of new version pls look in this, as while doing multiple copies it will be very helpful to avoid confusion.

  • Hello Sandip,

Thanks Sandip for your input here.

Could you please provide some steps along with image to understand the situation? specially changing properties after being copied.

  • We have the same question. As an example, a user routes piping from a pump to a header pipe. This pipe contains tagged components such as valves, strainers, and instruments. We need to create identical pipe routing for two other pumps but those are in different trains and will have different tag numbers. When we copy this piping, the program creates new tag numbers which the user has to manually modify on each component to change them to the correct tag. Such as valve 1101 needs to be valve 2206 at the second pump and 3312 at the third pump. It would be best if when copying piping with tagged items, the program opened a window with options for changing the number at that point instead of after the piping has been copied. This would greatly reduce the chance of a user not renaming a tagged item as needed.
