Trying to midpoint dimension items other than valves and I can't find where the program determines what does or does not get midpoint dimensioned.
In previous releases of OPIM, there was a scaler.ini file that had a line: DimOptMid=STRAIGHT_16_DIM:*/*:2. This would midpoint dimension items with STRAIGHT_16_DIM, which included valves.
In new releases, this file is no longer used and the setting is now in the style.xml file where you select to turn on the midpoint dimension and the maximum size to use. When we turn this setting on, the program only seems to midpoint dimension the valves.
The option to Enable Midpoint Dimensions in the isometric configuration within OPIM (SS6) says "...all component types that are eligible for midpoint dimensioning (e.g. valves)." One of our projects wants do also midpoint dimension inline devices.
Where can I find a list of the component types that allow midpoint dimensioning? Is there a specific list or is this an optional setting in the schema or someplace else?
I can make it work by creating an override that says to midpoint dimension the STRAIGHT_16_DIM items but we are looking for the information on where to correctly change what items can be midpoint dimensioned directly within the program.
Hello Richard,
Scaler.ini has been removed since SS5 only. You could use both overrides.txt file or using Isometric configuration dialog to check the mid point dimensions.
See below wiki using isometric configuration dialog. (Style.xml file is reading this dialog as well). Also check Use diameter threshold option which does not allow mid point dimension where nominal diameter exceeds this threshold value.

Thank you Rahul but that isn't quite working for us. In the Help file, it says for SS6 that "The components eligible for mid-point dimensions are inline components for which IE_TYPE contains "VALVE", "FITTING" or "INSTRUMENT". This project was using a generic instrument which I believe has a different kind of IE type. Where is it stated which type of items get mid-point dimensions? Because if we can add items to that list, we won't have to copy the overrides file to every new project we create.
Hi Richard,
When mid-point dimensions were introduced a fixed set of components eligible for mid-point dimensions was created. That set consisted of inline components with IE_TYPE containing VALVE, FITTING, INSTRUMENT and GASKET. That set proved to be too large as couplings, bushings etc were also included. The granularity was also not optimal, one could not have midpoint dimension on flanged valves but not on welded valves. Putting all possible option in Configuration Manager was basically impossible. With the introduction of overrides the following logic was implemented:
The documentation was unfortunately not updated to the new logic

Thanks Frank,
Based on SR # 7000667150, we have logged a Defect # 757282 to it. Submitting it for your information please.
