Nozzle Connection Label when using In-Session Isometrics

Hi All,

Our piping team prefers using the In-session isometric extraction utility to generate isometric drawings as opposed to creating an iModel and loading up OPIM.

It's been noticed however that nozzle connection labels aren't placed on the isometric drawing when it's extracted though the In-Session method and the nozzle itself is in a referenced mechanical file.

We've noticed that if we pace the nozzle in the active piping file the connection label places, but that isn't how we separate modeling files and design responsibilities - mechanical places the nozzles on equipment and piping references the file.

Is this a know issue? is there a configuration change we can make so that In-Session isometrics place nozzle connection labels?

Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Dave

  • Hi David,

I checked your workflow and want to inform you this is known Defect in OpenPlant Modeler.

Please Log a Service Request so that we can link & update Defect and to make this issue prioritize. Please do attach this link for Reference in Service Request.

As a Workaround, you can put Nozzle locator on Active DGN where Piping is done and Fill in desired info like Nozzle number which you want to populate in Isometric.

    See images for Reference:

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi Abhilash,

Thanks for your response, however this isn't exactly what I'm looking for. I will bullet point the steps below:

    1 - Create a file called mech.dgn

2 - In mech.dgn using the equipment tasks place a tank and a free form nozzle

    3 - Save and Close

    4 - Create a file called piping.dgn

    5 - Reference in mech.dgn

6 - In piping.dgn using the piping tasks connect a flange with gasket\bolts and a few feet of pipe.

    7 - Create isosheets

8 - Using the In-Session isometric extraction tools extract the isometric. You will notice no nozzle label is placed.

    Thanks for all your help,

    Dave

  • Hi David,

Thanks for posting your query on Plant Forum.

Yes, you can configure Nozzle tag on isometrics. Please follow below WIKI link which can help you to configure required changes to achieve same.
