how to make autocad 3D block intelligent in Autoplant

Thank you for posting your query in Plant Forum. 

Intelligent block containing Equipment information is called Custom Equipment in AutoPLANT Modeler.

To create a custom equipment containing intelligent data using basic shapes please refer the steps below:

1. Launch an Equipment model from Bentley Document Manager.

2. In a loaded model from Equipment menu select Equipment primitives and place a rectangular blocks.

3. Create a tag for the Equipment.

4. Select the dimensions of block.

5. Double click on primitive and you must be able to change the tags.

6. Similarly use Equipment primitives, associated primitives and transition components to create Custom Equipments.

7. Place a nozzle on the Equipment.

8. The nozzle will be associated to the component.

Actually in above process we can create a custom equipment using Autoplant component shapes available in the software.

But if i created some Lighting Fixture 3D block in autocad 3D Modeling or i get 3D block from the vendor then how i will import that block in Autoplant and make him intelligent.

Intelligent mean including its tag/equipment number and its other information.

Thank you for the quick confirmation. You can import the geometry in AutoPLANT and use this User Defined option to make it intelligent.

Once it is clicked we will be prompted to create a new Equipment tag.

Select the Entities.

Enter the required parameters.

Click on OK.

Your Custom Equipment must have intelligence.

Also one thing more if i want to add more information in it like some other details of the equipment then how can it would be added.

For Example in lighting Fixture i want to add below details 

1. Tag

2. Panel Number

3. Circuit #

4. Catalog Number

5. Fixture Type/Installation detail

However as per above detail only tag number can be added.
