I have models with existing components. I have then modified the Long Description in the SPEC. When I check Element Information on a component in my model, the long description still reads as it did before I updated the SPEC. It's also coming out that way on my ISOs.
How do I get my models to read the new information in the SPECs?
Hello Mike,Thanks for posting your query on Plant Forum. From pipeline manager, we can perform validate spec for components to update revised information from the spec to model. Please refer below wiki link that should address your concern.
Rahul,
I followed the steps in the article, but did not get a result. I substituted the LONG_DESCR attribute in where the article uses SCHEDULE. When I run the Validate Spec for Components command, PM doesn't find any inconsistencies, and no components are loaded into the report.
Is there a way to run the "Update from Spec command on all the components in the file without having the system look for inconsistencies first?
This is a very simple description change. All I've done in the spec is change the full word "SCHEDULE" to the abbreviation "SCH" in the long description. I really don't understand why I need to perform Configuration Variable changes to make that show up.
This is incredibly disappointing.
Hello Mike,
Spec validation tool available for updating spec. Please ensure the property name for Description you are using. However, if you still feel there is some problem, you may always log a service request to engage Plant experts to help you.
