Hello...I'm new to this ODBC thing and I have been having issues even getting it to work. I was trying to use the 32 bit version since I had Office 32 bit but that failed, so I ultimately got IT to install the 64 bit version so I can use the newer 1.6 ODBC driver. I followed the instructions that came with it, but I am getting errors trying to access the iModel tables.
The first time I tried the Get Data>>From Other Sources>>From ODBC, but when I select the iModel 1.6 data source, I get this error...
Weird point, the 'one time' screen upon installation of the driver says imodel2.0, not 1.6 so not sure if that is something. And I also mistakenly chose the second option before going back to select the first option.
So I tried the Legacy Data Connection Wizard method, and I got a new screen that isn't in the instructions...
Using any of the methods, I get the error message 'Unable to connect to data source. reason Access denied.......'
The data source is in my 'My Documents' on my machine. And I've tried different location on the server too. But Bentley support insists it is a permissions issue (and then told me to come to this page for further assistance). I don't know how to progress from here. Is it my installation? Is it the iModel I'm trying to read (I've tried several_? I don;t know. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Austin.
Hello Austin,Thank you for raising your query in Bentley Plant Forum. Can you please confirm which Database you are using, that is SQL or Oracle & its version? Also, you mention about iModel, which version of iModel you are trying to use?Regards | Jaya
Hi Jaya,
The iModels are being generated out of OpenPlant Modeler 08.11.11.304 (or AECOSim). As I am not an expert on OPM itself, but a user is telling me SQLite. I do know some projects use ModelServer and some do not. If using Model Server, I believe it sits on SQL. I hope that is what you are looking for.
I just confirmed that the majority of our work is file based without using ModelServer. So all data is being stored in a Workspace.
Clarification...all data being stored in the file itself.
