For OpenPlant V8i SS6 (or any newer version), is there a way to add a service tag to a group of piping components?
As an example, I have a steam supply manifold for tracers and it has a service tag (Unit/Service Type/Unique #, XX-YY-ZZZZ) associated with it. I need it to function exactly the same as a piece of equipment but I need to be able to generate an isometric of the components and the components must show up in a BOM report. It would also be nice to be able to add tap numbers similar to equipment nozzle locators. The service tag would need to have an origin so I could extract location data.

I know this reply is almost a year later and I am quite certain that this is not possible but the functionality could maybe be added in the future. The image attached above shows a steam manifold. We have a standard detail for them and also give them an Equipment Number (i know there is some duplication here but it is the way it is). We also have to be able to generate this on an isometric as well as extract piping component data for a bill of material. The functionality that I'm asking for is to be able to somehow give this highlighted group of piping components (which is already part of a pipeline and needs to stay that way) and also give it an equipment number. It would look similar to below in the Items list:
- Equipment Number
- Pipeline
- Iso Sheet(s)
-Selected Components
I could also see this functionality being useful when detailing a pump and seal plan and then making that into a custom piece of equipment. You could assign the piping a line number, add it to an isometric sheet and still have it associated as part of equipment.
