OPM Component with different ratings PSV

Have issues with connecting components which have different ratings on ports, typically a PSV

  • Hello Peter,

I suppose you are referring to the CONNECT Edition.

Please open the Configuration Variables window > Search for OPM_MATCH_PROPERTY_MAP_RATING > Add the two ratings you want to match > Click OK.

Thereafter, reopen OPM CE and try Placing again.

  • Hello Peter and hello Soham,

as we are also facing difficulties and noticed the same problem with the relief valves I want to participate in the discussion.

    @ Soham:
I think you missunderstood what Peter was talking about. It is not a problem of allowing different ratings to fit to one another. The problem is, that the relief valve does not respect the value of the field "OUTLET_RATING".

A relief valve often has different ratings on the inlet and on the outlet. In most of the cases the outlet of such a valve is bigger in nominal diameter (DN) and therefore has a lower rating.

What we would like to have is that OPM considers two different ratings for the valve.
On the inlet (3"-flange) it should have the rating of #300, which stands in the field "RATING" in the specification database.
On the outlet (4"-flange) it should have the value #150, which is coming from the field "OUTLET_RATING" in the specification.

@ Peter: May I ask how you managed to have such a look for the relief valves?
It is nice that you have something to represent the actuator of the valve. We were not able to implement something like this and oftentimes the actuator is what takes really much space when using relief valves.

Here is a screenshot at how our relief valve look like:

  • Hi Florian,

Thanks for showing interest here and sharing your concern.

There is workaround for handling PRV inlet/Outlet rating. Please check below wiki article to refer to.

Applies To Product(s): OpenPlant Modeler Version(s): 08.11.09.XXX (SS5) Environment: Windows 7/8.1/10 (64 bit) Area: Component Subarea: Data Original Author…

However this has been made for the sake of applying the connectivity correctly, as it require little modification on Rating side in spec for PRV's.

Please review the article and provide your feedback here.

To note this is basically made for v8i, however the concept would be same for CE as well.

  • This PSV was defined as a Custom component. We did some exercises on building our own dll's in C#. This worked fine, The downside was lack of documentation for most of the drawing routines. Hopefully, one day we will either have a well documented set of drawing routines, or even better a library of scripted parametric components in a standard language (Python?)
