Updating Equipment without dropping existing information

I want to do some minor updates of the exsting equipment with some information on OPM. Normally, I will drop the equipment to cell and do all the necessary updates and then convert back to equipment and put back the information. But for the equipment with a lot of information inside, I don't want to drop and input all information again. Is there any other way to do this?

Thank you

  • Hi Kyaw

In addition to this request, another easiest approach is to Update the existing component graphics. In this workflow, all the properties will be remain entacted and you should be able to update the graphics of custom equipment.

    Steps as:

    1. Create a custom equipment
    2. Let's consider the defined class name as Generic and Facility Class.
    3. Define all the desired properties.
    4. Finalize the changes and equipment is created.
    5. Now, based on requirement you need to do minor changes.
    6. Right-click on Equipment and select Drop from the option.
    7. There would be rectangular box around the custom graphics, don't delete it.
    8. Do the modification as required.
    9. Click on Create Custom Equipment again, select the class and click on Update Existing. Sample image for reference

    10. Click on the square boundary to finalize the changes.
    11. This will save the equipment with latest graphical/dimensional changes storing the equipment properties value entacted.

Please check both the suggested answer based on ease or complexity of custom equipment.

  • Hi Deepak,

Thanks for your quick response and advice.

    1. First method "customization for enabling data storage in ecmodel file" - I tried this following the linked instruction. I stuck at locate missing reference BentleyBase.01.00. I located and clicked "Open" but the button is inactive. Please refer to attached screenshot.

    2. Right click drop - This helps. Thanks a lot.

Kindly advise 1 as I want to explore that option too.
