How to sync OPPM with Plantsight

I have the model BT-3D-PLANT in Openplant Modeler and i associate in Openplant Administrator. But when I click on setup it failed with detail "ProcessFunctional schema already exist in iTwin and when i click Sync to iTwin on Openplant Modeler it say Turn on Sync mode but i aready turn it on with OP_PLANTSIGHT_SUPPORT = SYNC. I will appreciate if you can show me the worksteps and how to fix it.

  • Hi,

What specific operation you want to achieve?

If you want to achieve the syn of entire model file from OpenPlant Modeler to iTwin then above variable is valid. In this case, you should not use PlantSight > Sync. You should use Collaborate > Sync to iTwin.

If you want to have component based PlantSight operations, then the variable mentioned above is incorrect. It should be OP_PLANTSIGHT_SUPPORT = Component.
In this case, from OpenPlant Project Administration you need to Setup first.

  • The goal I want is to integrate 3D and 2D files from Openplant and sync them to Plantsight. This is because I want to create a demo that can show how when data is edited in Openplant, it can be synced to Plantsight and visualized. If you can share the step how to setup this solution it will be very helpful to me.

  • Assuming this to be for demo, you can follow the below steps as mentioned.

    1. Change the variable from Sync to Component . OP_PLANTSIGHT_SUPPORT = Component.
    2. Using OpenPlant Project Admin > Disassociate your workset if already associated.
    3. OpenPlant Project Admin > Connect Service > Register a new PlantSight project. Do not register the project from Connect Portal if you are not aware.
    4. Once register of project is done.
    5. OpenPlant Project Admin > Associate
    6. OpenPlant Project Admin > Setup
    7. Load OpenPlant Modeler CONNECT > Select your PlantSight associated workset > Create a new model file (do not use existing model file) and let the connection to establish with PlantSight.
    8. Same for OpenPlant PID (refer step 7)
    9. Once it is confirmed that both application open with connected mode.
    10. Load OpenPlant PID, place components in a drawing ensure that all tagged items are defined properly.
    11. OpenPlant PID > Sync.
    12. Load OpenPlant Modeler.
    13. At this stage you can run Consistency Manager and create the same tagged element of 2D into 3D.

  • Hello,

To visualize OpenPlant Models, OpenPlant PIDs and other design intent, you will need a licensed copy of PlantSight. This is classified as a PS3. The free version of PlantSight, available with OpenPlant, does not provide any means to visualize. It only provides the Engineering Data Manager tool to edit process data published to PlantSight from OpenPlant PID.

I hope this helps to clarify your request,
