I am new to AutoPLANT, and would like to know what needs to be considered prior to adding intelligence to 'dumb' PIDs.
Is there a procedure that I can follow?
Is there a checklist of things that have to be setup prior to upgrading the dumb drawing?

welcome to the BE communities site.
Just to be clear, are you indicating that you have existing P&ID's and you want to add "intelligence" to them ? If this is the case, this can generally be handled via the conversion functionality inside AutoPLANT P&ID.
However, the level of success depends upon the amount of structure in the dumb P&ID's, with the most success being with structured P&ID's. If you can send an example P&Id, I can review and adivse a "workflow" to move the P&ID's to an intelligent state.
However, it would be helpful if you could provide some background on what you want to do with the P&ID's afterwards. If thse are for maintaining an operating plant, then there may be a method of converting the drawings through the changes in the plant. If these are as templates for ongoing projects, then they may be better traced over so they are "clean" for future projects.

I want to use Bentley Auto Plant P&ID to create some templates for our future projects.
Can we import some non-intelligent P&ID's into Bentley and make them intelligent?
Is there any procedure to do this, If so,Can you tell me how to do that?

Hi deepsur,
sorry locating an edited thread is difficult. If these are to be templates to be used in many projects I would recommend tracing over the top of the existing P&ID's so the P&ID's are as clean as possible.
However, I would also advise that template P&ID's are best handled with the assembly manager as this has an enhanced renumbering feature (including replacing). I would recommend that you investigate this feature and determine what best suits your business requirements.
