Dear Bentley Family,
When we work on our any General Arrangement Skid(GAS)'s ISO drawing, the drawing file takes approx. 30min to 1 hour for just plot preview and creating the pdf file.
Also after the creation of pdf, sometimes few parts are missing in the pdf.
The sample pdf is attached here.
Please let me know any solution/setting for fast ploting and fast pdf creartion for such drawing.
Waiting for your earliest reply.
Swapnil: Are you using AutoPLANT SS4?
Yes,
We are using:
Software : Bentley Autoplant V8i - SS4 version : 8.11.9.140 , Autocad 2012-64Bit , Naviswork 2013 , Inventor Ultimate 2014-64 Bit , MS-Office 2010 - 64 Bit.
Hardware : Workstation Dell Precision T3600
We are having problem for ISO drawing, its takes half to 1 hour for plot preview only, then again for creating the pdf it takes more miniutes. But for other normal drawing its shows plot preview and pdf creation works fine and fast then what is problem for ISO drawing.
Very strange.
Thanks & Regards ,

Hello Swapnil,
Do you mean ISO generated using ISOGEN or this is AutoPlant ISOMETRIC model?
Have you tried to open dwg file in vanilla autocad and test plot preview performance? Is there any difference? What is the size of the dwg?
Regards,
Artiom
Dear Artiom,
Its a AutoPlant ISOMETRIC model.
Currently the drawing pdf i shared is having size is 1.01 MB .
Note: Its having xref files attached.
Waiting for reply.
Please try to open ISOMETRIC drawing in vanilla AutoCAD. Add check plot preview performance. Will there be any difference in timing? This will let to determine if performance is related to AutoPlant or not.
I assume that the ISOMETRIC drawing is located in network environment. Could you please create etransmit package in AutoCAD, then unpack it local on your machine and test plot preview performance. This action will ensure that the all xrefs are loaded from local storage, thus executing network environment as possible cause.
Please let me know results.
Please let me know what is the meaning of etransmit package in AutoCAD or do you want to say export package?
Also please let me know steps for creating etransmit package in AutoCAD.
So that we can test at our end.
Here we all are using standalone AutoCAD license. Is it still require to test on vanilla AutoCAD?
In AutoCAD go to File>Eetransmit , follow steps and save zip package locally. With eTransmit, you can package a set of files for Internet transmission. Easy way to gather related files in one zip package. Extract it and open main AP Isometric drawing, do not load AutoPlant modules. By saying Vanilla AutoCAD I mean that this is AutoCAD session with out any loaded AutoPlant modules.
Previously it was taking 30min for just plot preview and 35min to create pdf file.
After trying your Eetransmit way, its reduce to 20min for plot preview and 22min to create pdf file.
Though it save our approx. 20min , but still want to know any more fast way to increase the plot preview and pdf creation performance.
Thank you for your reply. Would it be possible to get Eetransmit package for testing?
As well have you compared timing between ruining Plot preview in vanilla AutoCAD and AutoCAD with loaded AutoPlant?
What pdf engine you are using to create pdf?
