GAS drawing takes approx. 30min to 1 hour for just ploting preview and creating the pdf file.

Dear Bentley Family,

When we work on our any General Arrangement Skid(GAS)'s ISO drawing, the drawing file takes approx. 30min to 1 hour for just plot preview and creating the pdf file.

Also after the creation of pdf, sometimes few parts are missing in the pdf.

The sample pdf is attached here.

Please let me know any solution/setting for fast ploting and fast pdf creartion for such drawing.

 Waiting for your earliest reply.

  • I have found user's with similar problems in the past.  Oftentimes, the issue was that in large projects with many drawings/models referenced in someone had mistakenly used the ATTACH option instead of OVERLAY.   When ATTACH is used, it brings many other items along with it besides just graphics.  When you plot, it is incredibly slow because ATTACH brings over all of the resource files in addition to the graphics.

This can be tough to sniff out sometimes in large projects, but the AutoCAD Reference Manager makes it easier.  Not sure if this is your issue or not, but worth checking into!

  • Hello,

Thank you for the suggestion Jesse, unfortunately not the case. The xrefs are referenced as Attachments, but there were no  difference in plot preview performance after reattaching xrefs as Overlay.

It takes around 10 minutes to preview one view port, the most of the time AutoCAD ruining Hide Engine.  I could not find a way to decrease plot preview time. It seems that this is the time that is needed to  preview Legacy Hidden View port  with such complex graphic.
