I've seen the thread for this problem before and followed the instructions to no avail. I am running windows 7 64-bit autoplant v8i ss4. I still get this error even after following the suggestions in another post with the same problem.
Did you check security settings of ...\programdata\Bentley\plant.... folder. Try to add yourself to this folder with full permissions and Start Autoplant again. We noticed that the installer is not setting permissions correctley even when installing as administrator.
I have tried this and still get the same message. I did an uninstall of the software, rebooted then did a reinstall of the software. Not sure if I missed something in the steps.
1) Can you tell me the usernames that you are seeing in the security tab ? Are there any unusal account names visible?
2) Did you force security the child objects?
Hi Jamie1967,
Did you try to repair using administrative rights? Also, where any previous versions of AutoPLANT installed on this machine before? If yes, please make sure registries are removed. I believe you are referring to the post below.

We have the same problem on every fresh installed computer. After installing Autoplant as admin you can see a Built in user in the security settings of C:\program Data\Bentley\plant V8i . After removing the Built in user the problem should be gone. If not then we add the user to the security settings of C:\program Data\Bentley\plant V8i. Doing this has solved the problem for us every time.
