General purpose drawing under OPPID

When working on OpenPlant PowerPID, I am able to access most of the general drawing command that on PowerDratf. The problem starts when creating a new Layer with color and linetyle ByLayer, and drawing a line, the line doesn't inherit the layer properties.

Is there a way to use the OPPID platform for general puposes drawing (including user interface like the taks bar)?

Jacques.

  • Jacques,

Using the base MicroStation Base Geometry tools and setting the Level will create the geometry in the designated level.

If you are drawing an OpenPlant PowerPID Process Line then it will not because these are controlled in the schemas. The class will have a Element Template set. This overrides the default MicroStation settings.

  • Hi Tony,

    Thank you for your answer.

I understand the restrictions you mentioned.

My question is how can I change momentally the setings under OPPID to use the product with the Base Microstation settings?

Can you please discribe the right process and how to do it?

    Thank you in advance,

    Jacques.

  • Hi Jaques, maybe you can explain what you want to achieve?

If you use the e.g. the functions in the Tools>Base Geometry Toolbox you can set any element properties like level or color and e.g. a linestring will be drawn according to this setting. OPPID does not contain the Tasks for "Drawing" so you need to use the Toolboxes for all commands that are not dedicated for PIDs. You could go and create your own task with the commands you choose though (Workspace>Customize)

The OPPID functions under the Equipment, the Piping or the other workflows are "reading" the preset standards for the "intelligent" objects from the schemas. These standards can be customized to meet your requirements (e.g. Steam Pipeline that shows in red or user specific equipment) How-To is explained in the Customization training.

    learn.bentley.com/.../ViewLearningPathDetails

So the "intelligent" OPPID objects will always show as defined in the schemas. You could change them after placement but that would be a bit arkward and also contradict the standardization idea i.m.h.o.
